Draw and Paint the Splendor of Nature & Beautiful Things
I like to draw and paint. I like the feeling of manipulating and applying paint onto paper and canvas. I like the anticipation of an image coming alive as the work develops. I watch for interesting shadows cast by a light source onto objects. I look for things that ignite emotions from within me. I challenge myself to recreate what I see and at the same time display a little of me from within. My works are representational, a form of realism altered through my own personal interpretation.
My favorite mediums are charcoal, colored pencil, oil and oil pastel as well as all forms of printmaking. The subjects for the majority of my work are still life, flowers and fruit, the variations of their colors and shapes intrigue me. Most recently, I returned to working on landscapes in oil pastel and acrylic. Florida’s captivating landscapes has inspired my interest in capturing the beauty of its lush and colorful open air.
In order to become a good artist I must master realistic drawing first and then expand and interpret that realism using my own observations, thoughts and feelings.
To become an artist is a life-long endeavor, a gathering of experience, a journey of inspiration and creativity.
